Abstract

Indiscriminate snacking among elementary school children aged 9-12 is a concerning issue, as it can lead to health problems such as diarrhea, food poisoning, and malnutrition. Children's lack of knowledge about healthy food and the dangers of indiscriminate snacking are key contributing factors to this problem. Therefore, health knowledge about healthy food with healthy snack choices and the dangers of random snacking is very important to increase children's knowledge and awareness in choosing healthy food. To determine the correlation between knowledge about healthy food and snack choices in Immanuel Orphanage, Palangka Raya. This research is a correlational study with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used was probability sampling. Data collection methods included questionnaires and observations distributed to the children at Immanuel Orphanage, Palangka Raya. The statistical test used was the Spearman Rank Test. The study found that the correlation between knowledge about healthy food and snack choices yielded a p-value of 0.000 ? 0.05. H1 is accepted, indicating a correlation between knowledge about healthy food and attitudes in snack selection. Conclusion: This indicates a significant correlation between knowledge about healthy food and snack choices in Immanuel Orphanage, Palangka Raya.
