Abstract

Elderly is a human life cycle that is almost certainly experienced by everyone. As age increases, physiological changes will occur. Unstable physiological conditions are a factor that must also be considered so that food intake can be accepted by the elderly It is known that inadequate nutrition is a risk factor for weakness, which over time can worsen the quality of life of the elderly in the long term. Knowing the Correlation between Family Knowledge about Elderly Eating Patterns and Eating Patterns in Fulfilling Elderly Nutrition in the GKE Ewanggelion Congregation. The type of quantitative research with a correlational design using a Cross Sectional Study approach, a sample of 30, data collection using a knowledge questionnaire and a diet questionnaire, data analysis using the Spearman rank test. The results of the study indicate that there is a correlation between family knowledge about elderly eating patterns and eating patterns in fulfilling elderly nutrition in the GKE Ewanggelion congregation. Based on the results of the Spearman Rank statistical test, a value of 0.004 was obtained, which means it is smaller than the alpha value of 0.05. Ha accepted, there is a correlation between family knowledge about elderly diet and eating patterns in fulfilling the nutritional needs of the elderly in the congregation at GKE Ewanggelion. This is because the family lacks knowledge, so the elderly will experience malnutrition. The family has a big role, especially for the elderly who are no longer independent, live in the same house, or depend on the family for food needs. Poor eating habits will also have an impact on poor nutrition. This is caused by a lack of knowledge and attention in consuming food and nutritional intake that is not yet balanced so that it will have an impact on the elderly's eating habits becoming lacking.
